Our Approach
Everyone in Serra Club is encouraged to follow the example of the Vocations VP. The possibilities seem endless to what we can do to encourage, promote and make visible the need for more vocations in the church. Our ultimate goal is to establish vocation committees in every parish. These committees function to make a “culture of vocations” a priority at the parish level.
We invite you to please consider becoming a Serran. Be a disciple of Christ to carry back to your parish the message to create a Culture of Vocations. And please consider joining to advance your own ideas to promote vocations to the priesthood and the religious life. We need help; your help!
Our Mission
Our mission is to create a Culture of Vocations in every parish in the Archdiocese of Detroit.
The Detroit Oakland Serra Club was instrumental in establishing the Serra International “Five-star Program” which includes prayer and a variety of activities, aimed at creating a “Culture of Vocations.”
We have also been challenged by the Archdiocese to help establish a vocations committee in all of the 225 parishes in the Archdiocese.
The Newman Connection, also initiated by our club, promotes vocations through the Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese, and now in collaboration with the Knights of Columbus, is expanding this effort into the public schools.
